About the Author

Herb Schreib at the Gebaute Gemeinschaft exhibition, Berlin

Herb Schreib graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Master degree in the 1990s and has spent the last thirty years as a cloud and security architect, protecting sensitive information for & from enterprises and nation states.

That lifelong work of safeguarding what matters most became the unexpected bridge to The Ember: a story about the first humans who fought to keep knowledge alive across generations.

The book grew from a research obsession with Göbekli Tepe and the Taş Tepeler sites that included a visit to the Gebaute Gemeinschaft exhibition at the James-Simon-Galerie in Berlin.

The Ember was written in collaboration with Claude and Grok, two frontier AI systems… using a deliberation method that became the foundation for the Symposium AI Lab (theaisymposium.net).

Herb lives between Malta and Portugal with his wife Yuliya, who walked 2,000 kilometers across Europe on her own pilgrimage and understands why some people need to go see the stones for themselves. Herb has two brilliant sons, Herbert and James, attending university and already preparing for the next discoveries . . .
